For more than 111 years, the Dolle’s Sign stood as an unmistakable landmark above the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk. It became part of generations of summer memories, from chewing saltwater taffy by the beach to racing along the boardwalk toward Funland beneath its familiar orange shine.
To celebrate the history of this beloved sign and its enduring connection to Delaware, The Delaware Poets Almanac has partnered with the Rehoboth Beach Historical Society and Museum for a special statewide poetry contest.
The winning poet will be invited to a reception at the museum in August, where the selected poem will be placed on display alongside historic poems about Rehoboth Beach preserved in the museum’s collection.
Submissions will be accepted from:
July 1 through July 31!
The contest will be judged by former Mississippi Poet Laureate Catherine Pierce.
Please read out Submission Guidelines before submitting.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions about this contest!
We would be happy to hear from you!
